ESET’s suite offers the best value-for-money. Its malware detection rate is close to being perfect and the suite offers a nice collection of extra features in a small footprint. The premium version comes with parental controls, a secure browser and password manager and the Android package comes with a theft prevention feature that can help find your phone that has disappeared. The network protection features include a firewall as well as the option to check home devices for vulnerabilities, are also excellent.
One of the most popular is SysInspector, a useful tool that takes a snapshot of your system and highlights running processes, important Registry entries, and other information. It can be a bit intimidating for novices. However, if you are familiar with task managers like those found in Sysinternals Process Explorer, you’ll feel at in the right place.
Another excellent feature is the possibility of scheduling scans on-demand. This is a great alternative to real-time security and it’s fast and simple to use. It’s just a shame that ESET doesn’t group it with other scheduling tasks, and its UI makes it somewhat more difficult to find than some of their competitors.
Other noteworthy features include a robust form filler for online banking, a powerful spam filter that has earned the highest scores in our tests, and a very efficient password manager that is simple to use. The password manager is available in the premium version that requires an ESET account to use it, is just as good as other standalone solutions.
